Ply means how many layers of paper. The fluted layers carry the load, not the flat ones. Over-specifying is the most common way businesses overpay for packaging — tell us the weight and the journey and we will tell you the ply.
One fluted layer. Light garments, hosiery, small e-commerce parcels. Cheapest per box.
Two fluted layers. Heavier goods, surface transport across states, anything stacked more than four high.
Three fluted layers. Machinery, export crating, very heavy goods. Most people who ask for it do not need it.
